Born and educated in Australia, Mr. Cutifani graduated with First Class Honors from Wollongong University as a Mining Engineer.
Mr. Cutifani has extensive operational experience in coal, gold, copper, nickel, industrial minerals and tantalum. During his career he has held a number of senior operating positions including:
- General Manager of Australia's largest gold operations
- Group Executive responsible for all of the operations of Australia's largest gold mining company
- Operations manager for substantial mining operations in nickel, copper and other metals and Industrial Minerals
In addition to his extensive operations and corporate experience Mr. Cutifani is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a former Councilor, member of its Ethics Committee, Mineral Valuation Committee and a former member of the CSIRO's executive advisory board for minerals sector research. He has been a member of the numerous industry committees and forums including the West Australia Chamber of Mines and Australian Gold Council. He is currently a member of the Ontario Mining Association and Minerals Association of Canada in addition to other industry and community representative groups.
Mr. Cutifani joined Inco as Vice President - Canadian and UK Operations in March 2003, and became President - Ontario Operations in April 2004. He was appointed President, North America/Europe in September 2005. He was appointed Chief Operating officer for Inco limited in October 2006, and subsequently confirmed as Chief Operating Officer for CVRD Inco Limited in January 2007.
