Mark J. Daniel

Dr. Daniel has a varied career that has included positions in management research, economics and corporate human resources.

He was appointed to the position of Vice-President, Human Resources, Inco Limited on March 1, 2000. In this position, he has corporate responsibility for the Company's worldwide people strategy. From 1996 till his appointment as Vice-President, he was the Director, Quality & Organizational Development.

Prior to joining Inco, Dr. Daniel worked at The Conference Board of Canada. Over his 15-year career with the Board, he benchmarked management practices in some of the most successful companies in North America, Europe and Japan. He authored and co-authored several reports based on the learning from these studies.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Daniel worked as an economist for the Bank of Canada and a number of other federal departments. He also taught economics at several universities.

He has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. from the University of Maryland.

He is an active bike rider and fitness enthusiast. He is married to Rita Daniel, with whom he has two children, David and Jessica.
