Catherine Jackson is a Chartered Accountant who began her career with KPMG LLP, first in audit and subsequently in venture development in the firm's life sciences practices in Vancouver and Toronto. She later worked as a management consultant in the banking sector consulting on investor relations and risk management to some of Canada's major banks.

In April 2001, Catherine joined Teachers' to work in the area of Regulatory Compliance, where she was involved in ensuring that Teachers' met its regulatory filing obligations. She subsequently took over responsibility for issuing Teachers' proxy voting decisions as manager of Corporate Governance and Proxy Voting. In this role, she monitors the corporate governance practices of nearly 800 companies worldwide in which the fund invests.

Catherine is involved with several national and international corporate governance groups comprised of global institutional investors. These groups work with local regulators and companies to positively impact governance practices.
