Tips for viewing videos
If you notice that the video stutters or there is excessive buffering, you may want to check the speed of your connection to the California server that hosts the video. You may do so by clicking here. A quality viewing experience requires a download speed of at least 500 kbps. In future we plan to provide an audio only download of each video to serve those who either have a lower connection speed to our server than required or who wish to download an mp3 file to listen to on their iPod.
Other ways to improve video performance include:
- closing any other browser windows you may have open
- avoiding downloading other materials from the internet while watching videos
- making sure you have the latest version of the Flash video player
- clearing your browser cache
If you're using Internet Explorer, you may want to consider switching to another browser, such as Firefox or Google Chrome, as they provide an overall much smoother browsing experience.
