CEO's Accountability in Large Enterprises
This thesis is focused on the role of large companies CEO in Argentina especially referred to family enterprises. This is mainly a qualitative research, whose goal is to improve the knowledge of the features and conditions of CEO's accountability. For that purpose it is inspired in Dr. Elliott Jaques' theory and methodology: Stratified System Theory and Requisite Organization. However this is a free version, because it includes other authors and methods. This study approaches the role accountability condition to allow unfold Managerial Accountability Hierarchy. For that, CEO's role is considered the most important data to take in to account to infer the possibilities of the future organizational development.

The managers and experts' opinions, twenty two interviewers (three Chairmen, seven CEO, twelve experts and executives), confirm the need to introduce the concept and practice of accountability in large organizational enterprises. Through this perspective Requisite Board responsibility and Chairman-CEO gap are explored.

Finally, empirical data illustrates and show a positive relationship between CEO's Time Span, enterprise size, business scope and enterprise project complexity.

Esta Tesis pone el foco en el rol Ejecutivo Principal (EP) de las grandes
compañías en el contexto argentino, con alguna referencia a las empresas
familiares. Se trata de una investigación principalmente cualitativa, cuyo objetivo
es avanzar en el conocimiento de las características y las condiciones de la
respondibilidad del Ejecutivo Principal. Con tal propósito se inspira en la teoría y
la metodología enunciada por el Dr. Elliott Jaques: la Teoría de los Sistemas
Estratificados y la Organización Requerida. No obstante es una versión libre,
pues integra otros autores y métodos.

El estudio aborda la condición de la respondibilidad del rol Ejecutivo Principal,
que permite desplegar la Jerarquía de Respondibilidad Gerencial. Para ello,
considera que el rol Ejecutivo Principal es el dato más importante a tener en
cuenta para inferir las posibilidades de desarrollo futuro de la organización
empresaria.

Los testimonios de los ejecutivos y los expertos, veintidós entrevistados (tres
Presidentes, siete EP, doce expertos y ejecutivos), confirman la necesidad de
introducir el concepto y la práctica de la respondibilidad en las grandes
organizaciones empresarias. En esta perspectiva, se explora: la responsabilidad
del Directorio Requerido y la separación de los roles de Presidente y Ejecutivo
Principal.

Finalmente, el dato empírico ilustra y muestra la correlación positiva entre el
Intervalo Temporal de Discrecionalidad del rol Ejecutivo Principal y, el tamaño de
la empresa, el ámbito de los negocios, y la complejidad del proyecto empresario
