Recognition for significant work supporting the dissemination, teaching, & research on Elliott Jaques' concepts


M.A. in Business History at Columbia University. His thesis was Requisite Leadership: A Model of Organization Effectiveness, which described the development of this theory.

Produced six editions of, Requisite Organization Annotated Bibliography on Elliott Jaques, Wilfred Brown, and Requisite Leadership (covering 1942 to 2009).  His first edition played an instrumental, indispensable role in convincing requisite practitioners around the world that there was a substantial management literature and sound research underlying their work. This insight and confidence directly led to the foundation of the Global Organization Design Society.


Taught courses in the business school at Columbia University and City College of New York based on requisite organization theory
Provided coaching to doctoral students working on requisite theory related dissertations around the world.

Wrote papers linking the world of Edward Deming and Elliott Jaques for presentation at Quality conferences including  "Elements of Intersection between Quality Management and Requisite Organization".

Wrote "All the World of Shakespeare is Requisite"  Working paper for the GO Society

Biography:

Ken Craddock is a consultant specializing in requisite organization and in quality. He has developed insightful recommendations integrating the operational concepts of Elliott Jaques and W. Edwards Deming. He provides support to managers for organizational transformation to increase effectiveness and improve strategy.

In the early 1990s, Craddock was assistant to W. Edwards Deming, the man who gave quality to the Japanese. He has consulted with firms of varying sizes, including a Fortune 100 firm, where he trained mid-level managers on creative thinking in week-long sessions.

He has also worked as an analyst and management planner, as a consultant for metropolitan government, and supervised the development of a PC-based tracking system to monitor services provided to clients. As a management planning analyst, he developed the first MBO business plans for 16 offices, with 2300 staff and $146 million budget.

While at Columbia he initiated surveys that led to the first revision of the business school curriculum in 30 years, made proposals to improve morale, wrote cases, and helped develop new courses.

Ken has been a guest lecturer at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business on quality, strategy, and requisite organization design. He has published 8 articles and papers and has made several conference presentations.
